Este artículo aborda una temática poco debatida y escasamente mencionada en la minería: el impacto de las patentes en una actividad con muchas y marcadas especificidades. Las patentes hacen a la efectividad de los procesos y equipamiento mineros, por un lado, y a su eficiencia en términos de tiempo y costos, por el otro. Por ello se apunta a poner de relieve su importancia en el ámbito industrial minero y la necesidad constante de alentar la actividad creativa.

This article embraces a topic which is subject to scarce debate and cove-rage in mining: the impact of patents have in an activity with several particular specificities. Patents contribute to mining processes and equipment effectiveness, on the one hand, and to business efficiency in terms of time and cost, on the other. Therefore, it is intended to highlight the relevance that patents have in the mining context and the constant need to promote creative activities.
