Se reseña la importancia y complejidad de la operación del downstream describiéndose el proceso de refinación del petróleo crudo y la posterior comer-cialización de los productos derivados, y se efectúan propuestas para aumentar
la capacidad de refinación en la Argentina.
The importance and complexity of the downstream operation is re-viewed, by describing the petroleum refining process and the subsequent market-ing of the petroleum derivatives; some proposals to increase the refining capacity
in Argentina are made.
